2024 Review - Steady Steps, Big Shifts.

2024 wasn’t a year of breakthroughs. It was something better: a year of steady, meaningful progress. The kind of year where you wake up one day, look back, and realize—a lot has changed.
My music catalog continued to grow, both in volume and income. Month by month, the numbers climbed. Not through any one big release or marketing push, but through consistency. Showing up, again and again. That’s become a theme for me—momentum over miracles.
But the biggest shifts weren’t in the numbers. They were internal.
I turned 49 this year. And for some reason, that number felt like a mirror. I’ve never been more interested in learning—about myself, about the world, about how to live with clarity and energy. I read 32 books this year (fewer than last year’s 50, but still a solid stack). I dove into online courses. I had deep conversations with other creators. And again and again, I kept coming back to this thought:
We’re all carrying so much unused potential.
It’s not about chasing more. It’s about becoming more of who we already are. That idea sat with me through most of 2024.
Up in the Air
One of the most exciting parts of this year was learning to fly. I made real progress toward my PPL (Private Pilot License)—something I’ve wanted to do for years. Flying over the French Riviera, and later getting a chance to experience the skies above Los Angeles, reminded me what ambition can feel like in your body: thrilling, disorienting, and incredibly alive.
It’s been one of the hardest things I’ve taken on in recent years. And one of the most rewarding. There’s something special about chasing a goal where the stakes are high and the learning curve is steep—it forces you to be present in a different way.
The Forest Path
Running became a core part of my routine this year. I’ve always stayed fairly active, thanks to years of soccer, but something changed a couple of years ago. My body started whispering (okay, shouting) that it needed more care. Less hustle, more consistency.
So I started running 5–6 times a week. Most mornings, my wife and I walk the kids to school in the village, and then I run the 4 kilometers back through the forest. It’s simple. Peaceful. And quietly transformative. I do it for my body, yes—but mostly for my mind. There’s clarity in motion.
Life at the Vineyard
Our home in Provence became a gathering place this year. Friends, family, kids running barefoot across the gravel. Good food. Long conversations. Laughter under the trees. There’s something healing about sharing your space with people you love. These are the moments I want more of.
The vineyard had its ups and downs. The olive harvest was lower than usual (olives are mysterious like that—one year, they explode, the next, they rest). Still, the oil we pressed was rich and golden. We also made some progress—though slower than I’d hoped—on the lake, the greenhouse, and the little house we’re building for chickens (and maybe two lambs if the kids get their way). It’s a work in progress, but then again, so am I.
The Quiet Countdown
There’s been a quiet countdown running on my phone for the past four years: Days until I turn 50. As I write this, it’s at 338.
I’m not planning a big party, but I am hoping to celebrate by spending time with friends—in small, meaningful ways. I’ve set a handful of very specific goals I want to hit before November. Not out of pressure, but out of intention. This next chapter feels like an opportunity. And I don’t want to coast into it.
Creating at Scale
In the studio, I focused on refining my systems. I’ve built a workflow that lets me keep creating at scale—without losing energy or burning out. There’s joy in having a flywheel that actually spins. It’s not glamorous, but it works.
New Book!
I also started writing my second book: Squareless – The Art of Living Outside the Box.
It’s a guide to building a life on your own terms—financially, creatively, and emotionally. A way to help people design intentional lives, create income from what they know, and ditch the traditional 9–5 for something more aligned. It’s still early, but I’m excited. Not just to write it—but to live it more deeply myself.
As I reflect on 2024, I feel grateful. Not because it was flashy or full of “big wins,” but because it was real. Quiet steps. Clear intentions. Some setbacks. Some breakthroughs. But all pointing in the same direction: purpose, freedom, and deeper connection.
Here’s to more of that in 2025.
