But life wasn’t always like this. In 2018, after a long career in the music business, I started to lose the inspiration and joy I once felt working with music. It just wasn’t as fun as it used to be, mainly because it was becoming increasingly difficult to generate a stable income.
Quite frankly, I was tired of pitching songs, going to sessions, and writing tracks that often ended up on a hard drive, never seeing the light of day.Â
I knew I needed to take control of my financial situation and my future. So, I decided to make a change and try a different approach.
While you might assume that our dream home and relaxed lifestyle in France are funded by hit songs or artist management success, the truth is quite different.
During my last few years working as a professional music producer and manager, I saw how increasingly difficult it was to break through the noise of the constant stream of new releases. But over time, I learned a lot about the industry, and I saw a clear opportunity in the world of music catalogs.
So, since 2018, I’ve become a strategic music catalog builder. I've built a stable and growing income from a highly profitable catalog that I created on my own in my studio. That catalog is generating $50K a month and has changed the way I think about how to monetize my music.

I started receiving questions from other music producers, artists, and songwriters about how I had done this. So, I decided to write a book called How to Build a Profitable Music Catalog. It’s a bit of a niche book, but it breaks down the process and the mindset behind building a music catalog as a solo music creator.
I’ve also been speaking at conferences and teaching this catalog-building concept to music students. I’ve seen some of them earn much more than they used to.
But it’s the peace of mind that comes from having a steady and growing income that truly makes the difference. As a creative, worrying about money is such a waste of energy, and it drains so much of your creative power.
I really wish I had understood this earlier in life, and now I’ve made it my mission to teach other creators what I’ve learned.
